The tubes are made by spirally winding recycled paper strips onto a steel mandrel. The tube advances continuously during production and is cut to length by a so-called in-line cutter that moves in sync with the tube.

The in-line cutter cuts the paper tube directly to the finished length. As the tube dries and water evaporates, its length shrinks slightly; the length tolerance is 1% of the tube length.

Depending on the diameter, tubes shorter than approximately one metre are cut to length after production, once they have dried completely, to achieve higher accuracy. This allows a tolerance of approximately 0.1 mm.

As a new development, we can print any text in black on the inside of the paper tube.

Available paper tube sizes

A feature of spiral tube winding is that paper tubes can be produced in any length; the maximum length is limited only by transport and storage, so we do not produce tubes longer than 6 metres.

The inner diameter of the paper tube is determined by the diameter of the steel mandrel used in production. The inner diameter tolerance is 0.2 mm, so please always specify the inner diameter when ordering.

Inner diameter: 25.4 mm – 280 mm

Most common inner diameters (mm): 25.4, 29, 40.5, 50.8, 70, 76.4, 110, 152, 280 (other sizes are also available on request)

Wall thickness: 1.5 mm – 4.5 mm       for inner diameters of 25.4 – 40.5 mm

2 mm – 7 mm        for inner diameters of 50 – 70 mm

2 mm – 13 mm         for inner diameters of 76.4 – 152 mm

4 mm – 7 mm         for inner diameters of 252 – 280 mm

Lead time: maximum 10 working days

Mailing tubes

Paper tubes are ideal for protecting leaflets and posters when shipping. Mailing tubes can be ordered in the required length, supplied with plastic end caps for both ends. Please add 25 mm to the length, as the caps slide into the tube.

Inner diameters available with plastic end caps: 50 mm, 70 mm, 76 mm.
